                 HEY DJ LOVERS

When looking at Dj's and how they brand themselves, it is of vital importance in knowing how you would like the public to perceive you as. sometimes when you are a well developed and successful Dj. You may want to take the risk of forming a duo

DJ FRESH AND EUPHONIK

Two generations of house have joined forces to become one of the hottest acts in South Africa, better known as F.eU (fresh and euphonik). Individually, Fresh and Euphonik have both had us dancing to them for the past years and have since teamed up to leave a legacy for years to come.
F.eU represents major players in the house scene boasting their own national radio radio show power nighs of dance on South African radio station 5fm, as well as their own TV show on SABC1 called club cultre. Adding to the list, FeU have also released 4 albums since joining forces in 2009, with their album selling over 24000 copies and the second album selling 15000.

  VETKUK VS MAHOOTA

Zayne 'Mahoota' Sibika a former member of the legendary kwaito outfit, Trompies, began a solo project under the name Dj Vetkuk vs Mahoota in 2000, and has gone on and released and mixed some of the biggest albums to be released in South Africa.

TAG TEAM OR DOUBLES???

For Dj's who want to work as a team, you have to make the all-important decision about how you're going to play. You may decide on a tag style of Djing where you both work in a battle royale style of Djing, taking 3 or 4 songs and switching back and forth throughout the gig.
This method of Djing as a duo presents a unique way of blending your Dj styles and songs in a different way, and you both better as you battle to out-Dj one another all night long. You may also choose to work together as components of one smooth unit. This style of duo Djing relies on one Dj doing the mixing and the other working on effects, loops and samples and even crowd control. This works well if one of you is shy about getting on the mic and pumping up the crowd. But it also gives you both the chance to improve as you go because you always have back up.

YOUR OPINION!!!

When looking at public relations, would you say that having a duo is a good PR strategy? Is promoting a Dj duo better than promoting a solo Dj in terms of budget, exposure and promotion?

  1. I think its better, marketing a duo than a solo DJ because fans know that they get a double dose of entertainment. The likes of FEU and mahoota and vetkuk have been successful.

  2. marketing a duo is a very great idea, as they say two minds are better than one. this can expand the artist in a positive way because each one has a particular specialty field that is better than the other.

    1. I agree with you, meaning that they will always have each others backs and making sure that the crowd are made aware of the fact that they will get double for the price of one.

  4. Promoting a duo is much more better, because more know is shared and exposure opportunities become more as the team wouldn't be focusing on one source.

  5. I think duos work for some and don't work for others and for those who do make it work good for them because in the long run it is good business.

    1. True working with a partner is not for everybody, so working soloo may be the better solution for an individual compared to having a duo.

  10. No when promoting duo's theres only one partner who's going to get all the publicity...like Mahoota and Vetkuk Mahoota is the one gettign more publicity cause of he worked with trompies back in the days so even target publics recognise him than the other one.

    1. I would like to disagree with you, maybe Mahoota just chooses to be in the lime lite and Vetkuk is more reserved and humble you know

  11. A duo works better, especially for PR promotions as well because it will gain more exposure. Its like having the "best of both", which it quite awesome and it works for a PR strategy
